Our Beginning
A full-circle beginning.
The Becoming League grew from one girl’s experience of what opportunity can open in a life — and, decades later, from the extraordinary people whose skill and persistence helped give her more life in which to pass those opportunities forward.
Founder Lachelle Dillon experienced the impact of girls' leadership opportunities herself as a young woman. She eventually served as Texas State President of FCCLA, representing thousands of Texas students.
She traveled to Washington, D.C., met leaders, laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, developed her leadership and speaking skills, and received a full scholarship to Texas Tech University.
Years later, after becoming a mother of three daughters, she wanted other girls to have meaningful opportunities that might similarly expand what they believe is possible.
Confidence is not built only by telling girls what they can do. It grows when they have experiences that give them evidence for themselves.
In April 2026, Lachelle experienced sudden cardiac arrest during an early-morning yoga class in Austin. Austin firefighters, Austin-Travis County EMS, and the medical and ECMO teams at Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin were part of the chain of people who fought to save her life.
She survived.
Now one of the inaugural Becoming League's first Missions will bring its 16 founding girls to learn from some of the emergency responders whose knowledge and preparation helped save its founder's life.

The Inaugural Founding Chapter
Sixteen girls. Austin, Texas.
The founding group begins with Ready to Respond — learning emergency preparedness and response directly from people whose knowledge can change what happens when someone suddenly needs help.
